The primary responsibilities of the Therapist AID Clinician will all be conducted at the Jail.

Some specific duties include:

  • Completing mental health assessments on inmates in order to identify presence of  mental health disorders requiring ongoing treatment;
  •  Providing consultation to jail supervisors and staff regarding inmates with mental health disorders
  •  Providing psycho-educational group instruction to self-selected inmates
  •  Providing suicide/risk management to individual inmates who have been referred by jail staff or who exhibit high risk thoughts or behaviors
  • Conducting goal-directed activities for adult inmates with mental health disorders to assist the client in securing access to and mastering the use of community services and resources that will both reduce or eliminate the risk of returning to jail and support independent living in the community
  • Coordinating the services listed above with the Bert Nash Center case managers, IOP staff, acute care staff, Access Center staff, medication services staff, homeless case management staff, and other community providers as well as jail staff by communication with such staff and community providers on a regular basis and coordinating schedules and assignments

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, psychiatric nursing or another related human services field (LSCSW preferred)
  • A minimum of two years of experience providing case clinical services to adults with mental health disorders
  • Reliable transportation with valid, unrestricted driver's license
