Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the psychiatric nursing resident will be to provide a range of medically based services to the client of Bert Nash. 

Some specific duties include:

  • providing a range of medical services (including initial psychiatric evaluations and follow-up medication appointments) under the supervision of the psychiatrist site director or his/her designee
  • assessing patients using interview, screening tools, and other standardized instruments.
  • implementing diagnosis and plan of care with supervision and consultation from the site director.
  • providing psychoeducation to patient, family members, and groups.
  • collaborating with the site director and the interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive mental health care that is safe and effective
  • using professional conduct and values in resolving conflicts that arise with the interdisciplinary team or with patients
  • implementing advocacy role in improving the health care delivery system
  • completing all paperwork associated with the financial, clinical, legal, or regulatory management of the case or the Center's operations in a timely and accurate manner.
  • regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as circumstances warrant.

Qualifications

  • good standing in ACGME approved psychiatric residency program
  • ability to pass required security background checks.
  • prior computer experience and basic computer literacy.
  • ability to achieve within one's first 4 weeks of employment a working competency in the management and use of the Center's electronic medical record (EMR) software as demonstrated by timely and accurate documentation of the clinical record.
