Therapist - Mobile Response Team

Salary is commensurate with experience within a range of $60,000 to $70,000.  This position is full-time, salaried, exempt and eligible for our benefits. A. Responsibilities and Duties: The primary responsibility of The Mobile Crisis Response Team Therapist will serve as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) by providing assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for behavioral health issues. Specific duties include:

1. The Therapist will respond as a part of team in the community to prevent more intrusive and restrictive levels of care.

2. Conducting screening assessment interviews including a mental status, assessment of suicidal/homicidal risk, and an evaluation of whether this individual meets the inpatient psychiatric admission criteria.

3. Providing crisis counseling and determining as a matter of course, whether the client would benefit by referral to outpatient services as an alternative to hospitalization.

4. Conducting Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Medicaid, Reform, Juvenile Justice Center and Douglas County Jail Screens as requested.

5. Testifying in Court when involuntary hospitalization is required to assure safety. Completion of all paperwork associated with the screening conducted.

6. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job;

7. Complete all required trainings to fulfill job duties in a timely manner.

8. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as circumstances warrant

B. Accountability:  The Mobile Crisis Team Therapist reports to the Mobile Crisis Team Program Manager who will not less than annually conduct a performance evaluation in compliance with established BNC personnel policies.

C. Qualifications:  The Mobile Crisis Response Team Therapist position requires:

1. The highest terminal academic degree in the fields of clinical or counseling psychology, clinical social work, or psychiatric nursing

2. expertise in diagnosis, evaluation, treatment planning and service delivery;

3. licensed or eligible for licensure by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board.

4. A minimum of two years' experience in an outpatient mental health setting (or similar setting) providing screening, psychiatric evaluation, crisis/emergency service, and diagnosis.

5. Reliable transportation; and a valid, unrestricted driver's license

6. Prior computer experience and basic computer fluency;

7. Must be able to achieve within one's first 6 months of employment a working competency in the management and use of the Center's electronic medical record (EMR) software as demonstrated by timely and accurate documentation of the clinical record;

8. An ability to work independently in cooperation with others;

9. An ability to exercise sound independent judgment;

10. Flexibility in assigned working hours;

11. An energetic and positive approach to the rapidly evolving changes and challenges of a complex workplace. 

Bert Nash Center requires proof of Covid-19 immunization prior to starting any position. Covid-19 vaccine series must be completed or in process to be cleared for new hire orientation.
