Therapist - Acute Care/Utility Coverage

Salary is commensurate with experience starting at $65,000 annually. This position is full-time, salaried, exempt, and eligible for our benefits. Responsibilities and Duties:

The primary responsibility of the Acute Care/Utility Coverage Therapist will be to provide a range of mental health services for clients who are in need of intensive and acute mental health treatment and to provide coverage for other staff to maintain access to care. This position is aimed at providing short-term interventions and coverage in individual or group sessions, intakes, or as part of the Intensive Outpatient Program. Training and on-going supervision will be provided. Therapy services will be provided in the office and via telehealth. 

Specific duties include:

  • Providing psychotherapy that includes goal oriented, and empirically based models for individual and groups with an emphasis on intensive, acute-need and crisis stabilization services;
  • Providing services with the goal of collaboration and coordination with other members of the Bert Nash treatment team, community service providers, and the client's support network;
  • Completing intake assessments that include a thorough evaluation of psych-social, diagnostic, strengths and liabilities of the client and assisting in accessing resources available to the client in the community. The evaluation will include a collaborative process with the client and/or family in setting realistic goals and objectives for the process utilizing best practice standards of care;
  • Implementing intervention techniques that are based on continual evaluation of treatment goals and focus of the process. Goals for treatment will be written in measurable and objective language to monitor and evaluate treatment outcomes.
  • Assisting in the on-going development and evolution of an effective acute services program including developing group and individual interventions that are consistent with those used in Bert Nash Center intensive outpatient program.
  • Participating in BNC training, supervision, consultation, and research activities, to assure that interventions are being delivered according to established standards of care and specific therapy protocol guidelines with clearly measurable outcomes;
  • Participating in public information and public relations activities, and to serve as a community liaison and advocate for mental health and the Bert Nash Center
  • Completing additional responsibilities as assigned.

Accountability: The Licensed Therapist will be directly accountable to the Acute Team Manager or his/her designee. The Acute Team manager or his/her designee will, no less than annually, complete a performance evaluation in compliance with personnel policies.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university plus a master's degree from an accredited school required
  • at least two years of experience in the mental health field;
  • a license to provide services including: a Licensed Master's level Social Worker (LMSW), a Licensed Master's level Psychologist (LMLP), a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW, or a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist (LCP) in the State of Kansas; also, LCPC; LMFT; LCMFT. Strong preference for those with clinical licensure.
  • reliable transportation and a valid, unrestricted driver's license;
  • prior computer experience and basic computer fluency;
  • must be able to achieve within one's first 6 months of employment a working competency in the management and use of the Center's electronic medical record (EMR) software as demonstrated by timely and accurate documentation of the clinical record;
