Salary is commensurate with experience within a range of $66,000 - $80,000 annually, shift differential pay if applicable, as well as a retention bonus of $6,000 over the first year of employment.  This position is full-time, salaried, exempt, and eligible for our benefits. Clinician Evening Wed - Sat 4pm - 2 am  - Mobile Response Team 

This full-time position has a schedule of 4 10's: Wednesday - Saturday from 4pm-2am with expectation of possible variation as needs could arise during a crisis response.  Ability to maintain flexibility in assigned work hours with dependable and predictable attendance which adheres to position schedule is an essential function of the job.  Ability to support the Mobile Response Team in meeting scheduling requirements that ensure operation of crisis services 365 days a year will incorporate working holidays falling within schedule with holiday compensation. Position will remain open until filled. 

OVERVIEW: 

The Mobile Response Team of Bert Nash is part of the Douglas County Crisis Continuum and works in collaboration with service recipients and emergency systems to identify and make use of strategies to manage distress during and immediately after interaction, in the least restrictive environment.

The Mobile Response Team Clinician serves as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).  The primary responsibility will be to safely respond in partnership with MRT teammates to provide solution-focused and recovery-oriented interventions at the point of a behavioral health crisis or concern in the community.  The MRT responds to high acuity community members or those with complex circumstances for the purposes of clinical assessment, safety planning, and crisis stabilization.  Ability to assess for, recognize, and effectively respond to potential or actual risks is essential.  The goal of services provided is to allow individuals to remain in the community safely, whenever possible.

REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires a Master's in a human Services field with State of Kansas licensing as a Social Worker (LMSW, LSCSW), Psychologist (LMLP or LCP), or Professional Counselor (LPC, LCPC).  Applicants who meet full Kansas licensure requirements may be considered if Kansas licensure is obtained by time of an employment offer and licensure is pending confirmation at the time of employment.

Minimum of 3 years QMHP experience is required.

The clinician will be willing to strongly advocate for the best interests of those receiving services and have a strong passion for Public Service.  This role requires ability to work with persons with severe and persistent mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, and/or substance abuse issues, especially those experiencing a psychiatric crisis; ability to work independently and as a member of a crisis services team; possess demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to react effectively in a variety of human service situations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaboration with MRT teammates (clinicians, case managers, peer support specialists, leadership) to provide a friendly and professional response to persons experiencing emergent or urgent psychiatric or personal issues and responding to them in-person/on-site as safely appropriate and necessary throughout Douglas County.
  • Providing proactive outreach to prevent mental health crisis and/or criminal justice recidivism.
  • To collaborate and coordinate with local law enforcement/EMS/hospital emergency department/community partners as appropriate and necessary to coordinate care and ensure a safe environment for the patient and staff providing mental health support and assessment.
  • Providing crisis counseling oriented to best practices and involving clinical assessments (i.e. mental status exam, assessing suicidal or homicidal risk, assessing for appropriate levels of care, evaluation of whether this individual meets the inpatient psychiatric admission criteria when necessary).
  • Coordinates care and treatment needs, consultations and follow-up with Mobile Response team members including leadership, Crisis Continuum, and Emergency Services team members as necessary.
  • Providing and coordinating necessary referrals and delivery of services among community agencies, hospitals, and within the organization to ensure that client is receiving necessary services.
  • Conducting Mental Health Reform, Juvenile Justice Center and Douglas County Jail Assessments as requested and timely completion of all paperwork associated with the screening and assessments conducted prior to ending shift.
  • Testifying in Court when involuntary hospitalization is required to assure safety.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records of all client services, as defined by state licensing agencies, funding agencies, and Mental Health Center standards and requirements.
  • Submits documentation, shift status reports, timesheets, and all work-related paperwork in a timely manner and in acceptable format as determined by agency, state, and team requirements.
  • Responds to community requests for critical incident debriefings, education, and training opportunities as needed.
  • Complete all required trainings and onboarding within 90 days, maintain Kansas licensure, fulfill job duties in a timely manner.
  • Attends team and agency meetings as scheduled.
  • Receptivity and acceptance of feedback/coaching to promote professional and performance growth and development.
  • This position also requires the ability to interpret written materials, write reports and business correspondence, and effectively present and respond to questions.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as circumstances warrant.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

This job operates largely in a community setting, but also in a professional office setting.  This role routinely uses standard office and mobile equipment such as computers, phones, printers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.  Must be able to perform the day- to day physical requirements of the position, including sitting for long periods of time, frequently moving around the building and community, the ability to drive distances in the light and dark with valid driver's license, ability to lift up to twenty-five pounds, and data entry into various computer software programs.
