Pay is commensurate with experience within a range of $50,000 to $55,000 annually. Full time, non-exempt, benefits eligible. We’re looking for a detail-oriented, people-focused HR professional to support daily HR operations and serve as a key resource for employee relations. A. Responsibilities and Duties: The primary responsibility of the Human Resources Generalist will be to conduct daily operations of the Human Resources department. Specific duties include:
1. Providing support for day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department.
2. Handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and competence.
3. Serve as an initial point of contact for employee relations questions, workplace concerns, and policy interpretation; escalate issues to the HRPM as appropriate.
4. Assist in identifying, reviewing, and documenting employee relations concerns, including attendance issues, performance concerns, conduct matters, and workplace complaints.
5. Support employee relations investigations by gathering information, documenting meetings, and maintaining organized records, under the direction of the HRPM.
6. Ensure work policies and procedures are being followed; accordingly, may include tracking.
7. Attend meetings with employees and, when applicable, union representatives, in coordination with the HRPM.
8. Attend weekly HR staff meetings, provide updates on assigned matters, and complete follow?up actions as needed.
9. Assist the HRPM with maintaining, updating, and communicating HR policies and procedures.
10. Assist with maintaining accurate employee data and documentation in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
11. Coordinate and track New Employee Orientation (NEO) in collaboration with HR staff and operational departments.
12. Assist in processing annual background checks for all current employees annually.
13. Provide administrative and coordination support related to personnel actions, Workers' Compensation; notify and partner with the HRPM on next steps.
14. Maintain HR tracking tools and spreadsheets, including new hires, separations, employee referrals, and other required records.
15. Assist with annual benefits open enrollment and provide employees with general information regarding health insurance, KPERS, and other benefit offerings.
16. Respond to employment verification inquiries for current and former employees, students, and volunteers.
17. Participate in committees, projects, or workgroups as assigned.
18. Accept additional responsibilities as assigned based on departmental or organizational needs.
19. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
20. This is an onsite position. Remote or hybrid work is not available.
B. Accountability: The Human Resource Generalist- Employee Relations will be directly accountable to the Human Resources Program Manager. The Human Resources Program Manager will complete a performance evaluation no less than annually in accordance with personnel policies.
C. Qualifications: The Human Resource Generalist- Employee Relations position requires:
1. High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field preferred.
2. Minimum of three (3) years of prior Human Resources experience in a role of similar scope; employee relations experience strongly preferred.
3. Labor relations experience or exposure in a unionized or collectively bargained environment preferred.

2. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally in sensitive situations.
3. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation.
