Pay is commensurate with experience within a range of $53,700 to $99,700 salary. Full time, exempt, benefits eligible. Responsibilities: The Health Information Management (HIM) Manager is directly responsible for the oversight of the Health Information Management (HIM) Team, and all HIM policies, protocols, procedures, related activities, and tasks. The HIM Manager serves as the Privacy Officer. The HIM Manager monitors HIPAA/42 CFR Part 2/privacy compliance with agency policies, guidelines and directives. The HIM Manager must possess skills to determine priority and organization of work tasks and problem resolution. This position will hold the following responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Oversee ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance, and adherence to the Bert Nash Center privacy policies and procedures which includes client access to health information in compliance with federal HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 law.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal and state privacy laws and accreditation standards, and monitor changes in laws and guidelines to ensure organizational adaptation and compliance.
- Provide direct supervision and evaluation of HIM staff.
- Provide consultation with all programs/departments regarding the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Provides consult with all programs regarding 42 CFR Part 2 regarding confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder client records.
- Respond to and investigate alleged violations of breach of confidentiality incident reports. Conduct risk assessments, and complete notifications with the Department of Health and Human Services and client notification as needed.
- Collaborate with staff involved regarding any aspect of release of protected health information process, to ensure full coordination and cooperation under the policies and procedures, and legal requirements. This includes participation in discussion and resolution of any privacy concerns that arise.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as circumstances warrant.
Qualifications (including but not limited to): The Health Information Manager position requires:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree with a focus in Health Information Management. RHIA - Health Information Administrator, or RHIT - Health Information Technician certificate, is required;
- three years of relevant experience preferred;
- strong typing and word processing skills;
- prior computer experience and basic computer fluency;
- excellent oral and written communication skills;
- ability to exercise sound, independent judgement;
- ability work independently as well as in cooperation with others;
- strong organizational skills;
- flexibility in assigned work hours;
